Climate Action Ltd. and Budapest 2023 Nonprofit Ltd., the organizer of the 2023 World Athletics Championships, jointly planted 40 trees. The 40 trees symbolize that the first World Athletics Championships which were held 40 years ago.

Today's environmental problems, climate change, pollution of nature are closely related to our way of life and our activities. This is true from the point of view of sport, since sport also has an impact on its physical environment, whether it is the work of local associations or international competitions.

Climate Action LTD would like to extend the issue of sustainability to the sport as well. Thus, in cooperation with the director of the organizing company of the World Athletics Championships, hold in Budapest in August 2023, Balázs Németh, and the CEO of the International Athletics Federation, John Ridgeon, planted 40 trees in Pesterzsébet to honor the first World Athletics Championships, which was 40 years ago, in 1983. The project was realized with the help of experts from Climate Aciton LTD and Pilis Parkerdő Zrt. During the planting several prominent person participated, including Pál Schmitt, the former president of Hungary and world championship bronze medal hurdler Balázs Baji.

The organizing committee pays special attention to sustainability and environmental protection. They want to promote sport by increasing green areas, and to demonstrate that the championships is more than sport. It is important to leave a positive legacy.
