100HA HUNERDŐ – TOGETHER IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE AND IN IMPROVING THE STATE OF OUR SUSTAINING ENVIRONMENT

Climate Action presented its project called 100 HA – HUNERDŐ in February 2024, which is not just an initiative, but a commitment to address Hungary challenges related to climate change and create a sustainable future.

Our goal is for the participants of the project to actively work for environmental protection and sustainability, which is not just a one-time commitment, but a long-term commitment. We're not just planting a forest, we're building a community! The 100HA HUNERDŐ project plays an important role in the conservation of local ecosystems and biodiversity, and through cooperation it has an exemplary character in the joint fight against climate change.

In Hungary, the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Act came into force on 1 January 2024, setting rules and regulations that encourage companies to engage in sustainable finance and unified corporate responsibility. The projects implemented by Climate Action are based on professional calculations and meet the requirements of ESG law.

We offer businesses a certificate or certificate of project participation, which not only means that they comply with legal requirements and regulations, but also gives them the opportunity to integrate this participation into the communication of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

During the project, depending on the place of production and the target stock, we plan to plant about 5000 saplings/ha, so roughly the total amount. 500 thousand pcs. First of all, we would like to plant oak (peduncle, peduncle, moth and shrub) and fast-growing maple and ash species forming the framework of the forest, but pioneer tree species (birch, willow) and wild fruits (wild apple, wild pear, rowan) as coloring elements. Over a 100-year period, the expected carbon sequestration in an area of 100 HA is around 14 000 t C (140 t C/ha, i.e. 513 t CO2/ha), depending on the site, tree species, unexpected effects, interventions and further development of climate change.

As part of the 100HA HUNERDŐ project, we have established our ambassador program, which is called the Green Ambassador Program, within the framework of which renowned professionals and athletes proclaim the importance of environmental protection and sustainability, who, due to their credibility, reach a wide range of society and draw attention to climate protection through their exemplary behavior.

"Our 100HA HUNERDŐ project offers unique opportunities in Hungary, through which we can receive clear guidance for achieving global climate goals. It also highlights the extraordinary role that forests play in our community." – described Dr. Gábor Gremsperger, CEO of Climate Action the uniqueness of the project.
